Meet the
Subaru Family

  • Providing warmth, love,

and support to those living with cancer.

Subaru believes we all should have a chance to lead a healthy life. That's why Subaru and our retailers have partnered with Blood Cancer United® (formerly the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society) for over 10 years. Together with Blood Cancer United, Subaru and our retailers partner with local hospitals and cancer treatment centers during the month of June to give warm blankets, patient care kits, and encouraging messages of hope written by retailers and Subaru customers in our stores to support individuals living with cancer.

Why does Subaru donate blankets in the middle of June? Cancer patients often get cold during treatment, regardless of the season. We are making sure they feel warmth, love, and support when they need it most.

Through the Blood Cancer United Urgent Need Pediatric and Young Adult Program, we are also providing over 1,800 pediatric blood cancer patient households financial relief to help offset non-medical costs associated with treatment, such as transportation, food, housing, and utilities.

Donate Now and We’ll Match Your Gift

You can join us in supporting those facing blood cancers by making a heartfelt donation to Blood Cancer United. For every dollar you donate during the month of June, Subaru will match your online gift to bloodcancerunited.org dollar for dollar up to $100,000 in total.

Meet Aiden

In November 2022, Aiden was taken to the hospital after weeks of a lingering cough, fevers, and unexplained bruising. Doctors diagnosed him with precursor B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Over the next 12 days, Aiden underwent extensive testing and began chemotherapy. His treatment plan stretched over 2½ years. Despite being a nurse practitioner, his mom found herself overwhelmed but determined to advocate for her son every step of the way. Aiden missed kindergarten but stayed connected through video chats with his teacher and classmates. He faced tough days — hair loss, allergic reactions, and complications — but never lost his spirit. In February 2023, after intense treatment, Aiden reached remission. Today, Aiden is a thriving student who loves hockey and dreams of becoming a pediatric oncologist to help other kids like him.

Our Subaru blanket was in our ‘go’ bag for my son’s unplanned hospital admissions. Now that he is thriving, it’s used for spontaneous adventures.

The last two years have been a rollercoaster for me and my family. But the help I received from The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society [now Blood Cancer United] made a huge difference. With your donations, I was able to get to all my appointments with less worry and can happily say that I am a little over a year and a half out from my transplant and looking good so far.

— Michael C., Cancer Survivor

Baxter Subaru La Vista

The Baxter Subaru La Vista team visited the CHI Health Henry Lynch Cancer Center to gift 30 patient care kits thoughtfully packed with warm blankets, comforting items, and handwritten notes. In partnership with Blood Cancer United’s Urgent Need Program, Baxter Subaru La Vista also provided financial relief to 10 pediatric blood cancer households to help alleviate non-medical expenses such as transportation, food, housing, and utilities — support that makes a meaningful difference during a challenging time.

Subaru of Jacksonville

The team at Subaru of Jacksonville delivered handwritten notes and warm blankets to Baptist MD Anderson Cancer Center patients receiving infusion therapy. The cancer center staff told the retailer that its heartfelt gesture was a tremendous source of joy, especially for those patients who come to treatment alone, and that the words of encouragement and care brought many tears of gratitude.

Dewey Griffin Subaru

For the seventh year, Dewey Griffin Subaru donated blankets and messages of hope to patients at the PeaceHealth St. Joseph Cancer Center. Center representatives relayed their sincere thanks and said the gifts were very much appreciated by their patients. They added that they had witnessed hundreds of smiles and hugs generated between the patients and the staff who had the privilege of handing out the blankets.
